  • [curious tidbit, May 2006: an independent film circling the country right now is an Argentinian film, "A Year Without Love." I haven't seen it yet, but my friends tell me it is a film obsessed with fetish sex. One very long scene takes place in an editor's office in a publishing house, and through this entire scene - which lasts for minutes - one book is at the editor's elbow, clearly prominent. The book has a naked man sitting at a computer, seen from behind. It's the Spanish language edition of my 3rd book, The Nudist on the Late Shift.]

From November of 2005 to February 2006, I was promoting Why Do I Love These People? everywhere I could. What follows  is a list of the 200+ places the book was featured. To see other recent press not related to the book, click here.

Other Recent Press - Not Book Related

Summer 05: Associated Press story on The Grotto (syndicated nationally)

Summer 05: Ready Made magazine article (again, on my workspace)

June 05: In the remake of Bewitched, Nicole Kidman plays a young witch who doesn't know what to do with her life. Wanting to know what real life is like, she moves to Hollywood, where she finds my book What Should I Do With My Life? in a bookstore and is reading it when Will Ferrell decides she's the one. In case you missed that: 1. she wanted to know what real life was like, 2. so she moved to Hollywood, 3. Then she read my book. They always come to me too late! I did not know the book was a prop in the movie until the previews began appearing online.

March 05: Starbucks put a quote of mine on 500,000 of their tall cups, as part of their "The Way I See It" program, meant to bring provocative discourse back to coffee shops. The quote on the cup reads: "Failure's hard, but success is far more dangerous. If you're successful at the wrong thing, the mix of praise and money and opportunity can lock you in forever."

Feb 05: The Wall Street Journal devoted a column on workspaces to the cement closet I disappear into when it's time to write.
